This vinyl fence installation encloses a newer home in Winter Garden. The two side yards are solid tan privacy. Across the back, the fence switches to tan panels framed by white posts and rails, and it runs along a line of young trees the owners planted along the woods. A walk gate closes off one side yard at the house. The woods behind the lot are thick, and the fence gives the lawn a clean edge against them.

Tan is a color we stock alongside white and grey at our St. Cloud showroom, where you can hold a real panel before you choose. Straightline Fence has been building fences around Winter Garden since 2012. Call (407) 593-1888 and we will bring samples to your yard.

Choosing the color

Is tan vinyl a good choice instead of white?

For a lot of houses, yes. Tan blends with stucco and earth tones, and it hides dirt splash better than white.

Look at the soil along the side yards. It is a reddish brown, and every hard rain splashes it up the bottom of the fence. On white vinyl that shows as a brown band within a few months. On tan it barely registers. Tan also sits quietly next to a stucco house in muted colors, and it turns up on plenty of HOA color lists around Central Florida.

Color does change the timeline. White is what we keep on the shelf in the largest quantity, while vinyl in a specific color is often made to order and takes longer to arrive. Ask at the estimate and we will tell you what is in stock that week. Our vinyl fence installation page covers the full range of styles and colors we carry.

Tan and white vinyl back fence meeting a neighbor's wood fence in Winter Garden
Two tone

Can you mix colors on one vinyl fence?

Yes. The back run here pairs white posts and rails with tan panels.

The back of the lot faces a tree line, not another house, and the owners went with a two tone look there. White posts, white top and bottom rails, tan panels in between. It reads lighter than solid tan from the patio. Where it meets the neighbor's wood fence at the corner, it ends cleanly at its own post instead of attaching to old lumber.

Then there are the trees. The owners planted a row of young fruit and shade trees a few feet off the fence line. That spacing is about right. It keeps the root balls clear of the post holes and leaves room to mow behind them. Think about mature size, though. A tree that grows into the fence pushes on the panels and drops sap and leaves on the rails, so plant the bigger ones farther out. Our fence company in Winter Garden page covers permits and HOA rules around town.

Tan vinyl walk gate with a diagonal brace beside a stucco wall in Winter Garden
The gate

Why does a vinyl gate have a diagonal brace?

To keep it from sagging. The brace carries the weight of the open side back to the hinges.

A privacy gate is a heavy rectangle hanging off one edge. Over time gravity pulls the free corner down, and the latch stops lining up. The diagonal brace on the inside face of this gate fights that. It turns the panel into a stiff frame. It also faces the yard, so the side you see from the street stays clean.

This gate sits between the fence and the corner of the house, hung on black hinges off a post set right beside the stucco. The latch catches on its own when the gate swings closed. A side yard like this one is narrow, and the crew sized the opening so a wheelbarrow and the trash cans both fit through. Most yards like this take two days on site, posts the first day and panels once the concrete sets. To get a price on yours, schedule a free estimate or call (407) 593-1888.
